The memorial day was established by the Federal law ” on amendments to the Federal law “on days of military glory (victory days) Russia” from July 21, 2005. This day is dedicated to the tragic events that took place on September 1-3, 2004 in the city of Beslan, when more than 300 people, mostly women and children, were killed in an unprecedented terrorist act.
The day of solidarity in the fight against terrorism symbolizes the unity of the state and society in the fight against such a terrible phenomenon as terrorism. On this day, Russia pays tribute to the memory of thousands of compatriots who died at the hands of terrorists in Beslan, in the theater center on Dubrovka, in Budennovsk, Pervomaisky, in the explosions of residential buildings in Moscow, Buinaksk and Volgodonsk, and in hundreds of other terrorist acts.
